Start Your Gratitude Jar Today!
How are things going? I know this time of year can be very stressful. There’s so much to do but seemingly very little time to get it all done. Your list may include Christmas shopping, party planning or even baking delicious holiday treats (which you know I don’t do especially if you watched my Inspired Vlog from Thanksgiving.

Whatever you’re planning, I hope you take time to give God thanks for it all. Every bit of it. From your stressful days to the times when everything is clicking on all cylinders, take time to give thanks.
This pleases God. For His Word says, “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” –1 Thessalonians 5:18
A couple years ago, a really cool idea received a lot of publicity. You may recall the gratitude jar. There’s a lot of different variations and no right or wrong way to include this activity in your life. The goal however is to establish a habit of expressing gratitude. You should do that daily by writing down on a sheet of paper the things for which you are grateful and then placing the paper in your jar. As the contents in your jar expand (because you’re doing this daily), you’ll soon realize that you have a lot to be grateful for.
I love my sister’s spin on this. All throughout the year, she adds notes of gratitude into her jar. On New Year’s Eve, she and my brother-in-law sit together and read through the notes in the jar. This is their tradition – bringing in the New Year with a heart of gratitude.
I’m planning to do the same and started adding to my jar the other day. I get excited when I think about the promises of God. More than that, I’m thankful that I’ve matured and recognize that a grateful heart is very pleasing to God.
Regardless of where you are in life, there’s always more that God is doing. Expressing gratitude for the small things opens the door for God to do even bigger exploits in your life.
